6th Circuit oral arguments on same-sex marriage case

On August 6, 2014, the 6th Circuit will hear oral arguments for the four states under their jurisdiction, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Tennessee. The cases will all be heard on the same date and the Courts decision will be binding on all four states. Kentucky’s case is only about marriages which have already occurred outside of the state. (There is a pending lawsuit in Kentucky to allow same-sex marriages).

Once the 6th Circuit makes it decision, the case could go to the Supreme Court, but with all the cases pending across the country, it may not need to go to the Supreme Court, as another case may go there.

I will try to be better about updating this information more frequently as the cases are announced across the country.
